Federal law requires schools to make the Minnesota Student Survey available for parents to review. District contacts have already received electronic copies of the survey instruments, and parents and others can continue to review the survey in person at the district. Alternatively, districts may send an electronic copy of the survey to anyone requesting it.
Schools that opt to survey 6th graders can either use the Level 1 or Level 2 survey. Typically, 6th graders in an elementary school take the Level 1 survey while 6th graders in a middle school or junior high take the Level 2 survey. Generally, 7th and 8th graders would take the Level 2 survey. However, 7th and 8th graders attending an Area Learning Center (ALC) or Juvenile Correctional Facilities (JCFs) will receive the Level 3 survey.
